Responsible gambling at LulaBet: limits, pauses and exits

LulaBet's account tools let you cap deposits, pause activity or exit entirely, though a full self-exclusion carries a minimum term set by national responsible-gambling policy, not by LulaBet itself.

Account controls

The tools built into your LulaBet account

Deposit limits, time-out tools and self-exclusion options are listed as native account features on LulaBet's own App Store listing, meaning they sit inside Account Settings rather than requiring a separate app or third-party service. A deposit limit caps how much can be added within a daily, weekly or monthly window and blocks further top-ups once that cap is reached, while the existing balance stays available to bet with.

A time-out is shorter and reversible, typically locking the account from 24 hours up to 30 days, useful for a cooling-off period without closing the account permanently. Self-exclusion is the most restrictive of the three and, unlike a time-out, cannot be reversed early once activated.

Exclusion scope

Self-exclusion: how long it lasts and who enforces it

A voluntary self-exclusion in South Africa runs for a minimum of 6 months once activated, and reinstatement before that term ends is not possible. This currently applies at the operator or South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF) level rather than through one industry-wide block, because the statutory National Register for excluded persons under section 14 of the National Gambling Act remains ungazetted and not yet operative.

SARGF's 2024/25 National Responsible Gambling Programme report recorded 902 new self-exclusion applications out of more than 4,000 total referrals for the year, a 55% jump on the prior year, with 48% of identified problem gamblers aged under 35.

Exclusion thresholds at a glance

  • Minimum self-exclusion term: 6 months, no early reinstatement
  • Time-out range: 24 hours to 30 days, reversible
  • National statutory register: not yet operative (section 14 pending gazetting)
  • 2024/25 self-exclusion applications: 902 of 4,000+ total referrals

Where to get help beyond LulaBet

The National Responsible Gambling Programme runs a toll-free counselling line on 0800 006 008, or WhatsApp HELP to 076 675 0710, staffed independently of any single operator. SARGF also issues formal self-exclusion letters covering casino, provincial and national exclusion categories, which remain the practical route to a binding exclusion until the statutory register is gazetted.
